About the Artist

Ann Smith is best known for her large scale abstract floral paintings and her award winning images have been exhibited by such prestigious organizations as the National Watercolor Society, the Rocky Mountain National Water Media Exhibition and the Western Federation of Watercolor Societies. She has a degree in Biological Illustration from UCLA and her work has been featured in Southwest Art, Watercolor Magic Magazine and Splash7: A Celebration of Light in the Best of Watercolor book series, published by North Light Books. One of her paintings is included in The Watercolour Artist’s Colour Mixing Bible and she is one twelve international artists whose work is profiled in The Watercolour Flower Painter’s Handbook, both published by Quarto Press in London. Two of Ann's paintings were selected for the forthcoming Encyclopedia of Watercolour Techniques, also published by Quarto Press in 2011.

She has been selected to be the featured poster artist for annual fundraisers for the Southwest Watercolor Society, the American Heart Association and the American Cancer Society in the Albuquerque, Santa Fe and Tucson. She was the 2008-2009 season program cover artist for the San Juan Symphony.

Public collections include Humana and Presbyterian Hospitals (nationwide), the New Mexico Watercolor Society, San Juan Regional Hospital and San Juan College in Farmington, New Mexico. Durango permanent collections may be seen in the Oak Room of the Strater Hotel and at the Durango Cancer Center.
